School prizes- The Kent School District elementary school with the highest percent of participating students (5+ stamps) whose passports are turned in by September 10th will be awarded the First Place Grand Prize. The winning school will be awarded with a check to purchase the desired PE Equipment and/or health education teaching tools- preferably nutrition education related. Winning Schools will submit a list of equipment that they are going to purchase prior to receiving the prize money. Winning Schools will be offered a brief assembly in which they will be presented the check. Press and Sponsors may be invited.
Individual Prizes- A Cruzin’ Passport drawstring backpack will be awarded to all Kent School District elementary aged participants with 5 or more stamps (as supplies last). All elementary children having more than 50 stamps (or great health effort displayed, as viewed by the passport Committee) are eligible to participate in the drawing for assorted prizes.
Although the intent of the Passport Challenge is for the whole community to get out and be healthy, and all are encouraged to participate, individual prizes will be limited to elementary age students within the Kent School District boundaries. This includes Home school and private school children. An “elementary aged child” is defined as a child enrolled in Kindergarten through 6th grade during the 2009-2010 School year, or a kindergartner who will be enrolled in the 2010-2011 school year.
Rules for Cruzin’ Passport Elementary School Challenge -
· Passports must be turned into an official passport site no later than Friday September 10th to be eligible for prizes.
·The school with the highest percentage of passports turned in will be the grand Prize winner
· Each passport must have at least 5 stamps.
· Students who turn in passports must be enrolled at that school during the 2009-2010 school year, or be incoming kindergartners for the 2010-2011 school year.
· Although we encourage staff and PTA members to participate, only student passports will count toward the winning school count.
· Only one passport per person will be accepted.
· Registration information on inside front cover must be complete.
· Students may receive one stamp during the school year for a one half hour long physical activity such as field day or an intentional lesson plan on Nutrition/exercise that lasts one half hour.
· If after school hour, or school year activities are offered that include 30 min. of exercise or nutrition education, students may go to an official passport site to obtain a stamp.
